Pre-1966
Lou (Jim’s father) owned a barber shop on Main Street in Bound Brook directly across the street from where Lou’s Eatery & Sub Shop currently resides.
1966
Lou bought a small sandwich shop, Bea’s Sub Shop, across the street from his barber shop.
Persistence is Key
Lou’s Eatery & Sub Shop has survived 6 floods:
- 1971 – Hurricane Doria
- 1996 (torrential rain)
- 1999 – Hurricane Floyd
- 2007 (torrential rain)
- 2010 (torrential rain)
- 2011 (torrential rain)
After each incident we upgraded the appearance and menu to serve the changing economy and food choices of our patrons.
2014 is a banner year for us changing our logo for the first time in 37 years as we look forward to the continued re-growth of the Bound Brook area.
All that said…never forgetting where we came from…the sub receipts are still Lou’s…
